HOW TO INSTALL A CHRONX NODE (ChronX live chain 7fd9138c) ================================================================================ What it is: a program that keeps its own copy of the ChronX ledger, checks every new entry, and passes entries on to other nodes. It holds NO money and NO wallet keys - only a random identity so other nodes can recognise it. It cannot spend, send or change anything. It starts by itself whenever the computer starts. You need: a computer that stays on as much as possible, about 2 GB free disk, an internet connection. First start downloads about 270 MB. WINDOWS 10 / 11 (64-bit) <- most people want this one 1. Download the Windows zip (chronx-node-...-windows-x86_64.zip). 2. Right-click the zip > "Extract All..." > Extract. 3. Open the extracted folder and double-click Install ChronX Node - If Windows says "Windows protected your PC": click "More info" > "Run anyway". - Click "Yes" when asked to allow changes (it installs a background task). 4. It asks for an optional node name (see below). Press Enter to skip. 5. Wait while it downloads and checks the chain snapshot (a few minutes). After about a minute it shows RESULT : OK - you are done. Check later: double-click Check ChronX Node in the same folder. Remove: double-click Uninstall ChronX Node. MAC (Apple Silicon M1 or later) 1. Download the Mac file (...-macos-arm64.tar.gz) and double-click it (it unpacks). 2. Open Terminal, type sudo bash and a space, drag install.sh from the unpacked folder into the Terminal window, press Enter, type your password. Check: bash /usr/local/chronx-node-7fd9138c/scripts/check-node.sh Remove: sudo bash /usr/local/chronx-node-7fd9138c/scripts/uninstall.sh LINUX (x86_64; Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, Debian 12 or newer) tar -xzf chronx-node-*-linux-x86_64.tar.gz && cd chronx-node-*linux-x86_64 sudo bash install.sh Check: bash /opt/chronx-node-7fd9138c/scripts/check-node.sh Logs: journalctl -u chronx-node -f Remove: sudo bash /opt/chronx-node-7fd9138c/scripts/uninstall.sh THE NODE NAME (optional) You may give your node a name such as Usman's Node . Every other node can see it, so it is PUBLIC. Do not put your exact address or location in it. Leave it empty if you prefer. Allowed: letters, numbers, spaces and ' . - (max 48). To change it later, run the installer again (your data is kept). WHAT "OK" MEANS The check compares your node's ledger fingerprint (state root) with the network's at the same height. "OK" = identical. "Syncing" = still catching up, check again in 15-20 minutes. "MISMATCH" = please report it (screenshot). GOOD TO KNOW - Sleep/hibernate pauses the node; it catches up by itself when the computer wakes. - A watchdog restarts the node if it ever stops making progress. - Port 30303 (TCP): opening it on your router helps the network but is not needed. - Your node starts from a verified copy of the ledger (the "snapshot") and checks its fingerprint before using it; it never trusts an unchecked file. - Optional watchtower (packages from build 20261009 on): scripts/chronx-watchtower.py compares your node's fingerprint with the network's every 5 minutes and keeps a dated log. Mac/Linux: sudo bash /scripts/watch.sh --once Windows: needs Python 3 from python.org, then py "%ProgramData%\ChronX\node-7fd9138c\scripts\chronx-watchtower.py" --once ^ --config "%ProgramData%\ChronX\node-7fd9138c\config\watchtower.json" - Help: https://www.chronx.io/support.html
